Communication devices provide a the link back to the Management Software. Devices securely authenticate and program keys whilst also collecting audit trail information. There are low cost solutions that connect to a PC, or solutions that can install on walls or even outdoors. There are a range of key cabinets and safes, ideal for keys programming that are regularly issued and returned.
Authorise and program keys by PIN and RFID card
CyberKeys are typically programmed to expire routinely. This might be often, once a day or every month. The security measures can prevent unauthorised access and reduce risk of lost or stolen keys gaining access. To re-authorise a key the keyholder must visit a Communicator.
Communicator options vary, but a common solution is a KeyPad at a fixed location. When the key is inserted the keyholder is required to enter their personal PIN. This helps to ensure they are the right person carrying the key. The update process revalidates the key and collects any audit trail records before sending the information to the management system.
For keys that are regularly issued and returned, keyholders can visit a cabinet or safe and present their RFID card and/or enter a PIN. The system will automatically verify the keyholder credentials and, if authorised, provide a key that is uniquely programmed to their access profile.
